To Obey Is To Love

When Jesus told them he would be put to death by religious leaders, Peter actually rebuked Jesus. Can you imagine that. "Be it far from the, Lord this shall never be unto thee" Jesus responded "get the behind me Satan."

Why? Because Peter didn't understand it was God's Will. The love he had for Christ in the flesh of course he didn't want to see him die. This is why we are to always walk in the spirit. The Holy Ghost understands the assignment.

Even when the time came Peter's lack of understanding was still there. How do we know he still didn't have understanding because one of the men who came to take Jesus captive he cut his ear off. Peter said what he said not on his watch. Because he loved Jesus and this was his way of showing it. But what he was doing was fighting against the Will of God. The assignment on Christ life was death for the sin of all mankind. It had to happen. Stop fighting against the Will of God for your life.

Obedience is Jesus expression of love and he is requiring that from us today. Not a fleshly love like Peter but a spiritual love that requires you to die to yourself. The Lord is patient and long-suffering with us. Peter became a great man of God. With continued learning, obedience and the Holy Ghost. He came to understand the assignment even on his own life.

John 14: 15, 23-24

If ye love me, keep my commandments. Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: (a doer of the word, obeys) and my father will love him ( God loves those who keep the words of his SON) and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. (We will dwell with, make our home with him)

He that Loveth me not keeps not my sayings: (they live how they want to live according to the flesh desires and say things like he still working on me, without any work toward growth remaining disobedient to the commandments of Christ) and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me. God said if you are not following the commandments of Jesus you do not love him.

Ask yourself today do I really love Christ? Or, are they mere words without obedience? Am I being called to an assignment and I refuse to accept? Is Christ calling me out of the company of people, places and things but I'm holding on? I pay tithes, I attend church that's nice. "For Christ I live and for Christ I die. "Sounds good but will you obey him?
